As the 2nd phase of Vaccination has been started in the country from 1st March 2021. The vaccination will be given to age groups of more than 60 years and people of 45-59 years suffering from certain medical conditions. In phase 1, all the health workers and frontline covid workers got the vaccination.
The top IT companies like Infosys and Accenture have decided to provide free vaccination to the employees and their dependents. They have mentioned that nothing is more important than the health and well-being of our people.
In Infosys, more than 2.4 lakhs employees are working worldwide whereas Accenture has more than 5 lakhs employees. Accenture has two lakh of its five lakhs employees in India whereas Infosys has 89% of their total employees are from India.
In a statement by Pravin Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Infosys said that
“Infosys is looking at partnering with health care providers to vaccinate employees and their immediate families as eligible under the guidelines given by the government of India and as per approved procedures and timelines”
At Accenture in India, we have continued to monitor and consider the guidance of external experts and groups, including international health organizations and local health authorities. Based on this, we strongly support the scientific and public health advice that encourages vaccination,” said Rekha M Menon, Chairperson, and Senior Managing Director, Accenture in India.
The government had earlier said that vaccines will be free at government health facilities whereas the private sector cannot charge more than Rs 250 per dose.
Other companies are also preparing to provide free vaccination to their employees and some of them already started buying the vaccines for their employees.
